Man, I'm with him!
Are there non black, non hispanic, non "other" people who work for their money, or are among the millions unemployed and/or buried in debt who actually buy this "privilege" stuff?
I mean people on tv, athletes, x presidents, and oprah all talk about it. Sure, each of them has more money than they need and in the language of the left, "hit life's lottery." Sure, good for them. I can see how they might parrot this stuff out of some kind of mis-placed guilt. But, what about the other 97% of the fair skinned? Do they believe this? And, are they willing to move to the end of the line for college admissions, bank loans, access to....everything?
This got real in Pittsburgh. Not policy. Not academic musings. Some people walk up to other people having a meal and take their food. Yeah, that's what they're talking about! Your food, your house, your potential, your equality, and, your independence.
This morning I was thinking about this subject. What occurred to me was "parenting". Most everything starts in the home. Love or hate. Kindness or harshness. Discipline or no discipline. God or no God. Either parents are involved as parents or they are too busy trying to be their "friends". Parenting, true parenting, has gone out the window, reasons too many to list. So instead we allow peers, teachers and television shape and mold our children.
Yes! So right! Remember "the old days" when a kid would do something wrong and the other adults would "stand back" and wait for the the Mom or Dad to come around the corner? And, when they did, they could be counted on to take charge of the situation and parent their child! [not the "villages" child their child.]
They could be relied on for correcting, instructing, admonishing, and yes, disciplining. Now...very little of this! Many parents today can be relied on for not showing up, not understanding the role of parent vs. friend, excusing, enabling, minimizing personal responsibility, and blaming the person who has been wronged by their little darling.
But, what do we have now? Obamacare made people "children" in their parents plans until 25? But, some states want 16 year olds to vote.
Of course, all this starts at home and from whatever moral center that exists there.
