As an official contact tracer I can tell you that 95% of the people I'm talking to are barely sick. Yes they tested positive, but their symptoms are almost non-existent, and most of them are recovering by the time I call them about 4 days after they've been tested.
Also, as a side note, we are also collecting information on the individual's sexual orientation.
Why is this?
I'm sure you are! Race too, I bet! Guns in the home?
Race and guns I get. Why sexual orientation?
The official reason we were given is that those in the LGTBQI community (pretty sure I forgot a few letters or got some wrong...whatever), are not treated with the same respect as traditional sexual orientation people. According to my doctor friend, that's complete BS. They also stated that we might be uncomfortable asking SOGI (sexual orientation and gender identity) questions, but that the 'target audience will appreciate it'. Again, BS. I asked a VERY liberal gay couple if this would be appreciated and they stated that anytime any government agency asks that question and has your name/address, etc on file, it's a HUGE red flag.
I have, by God's Grace, been removed from the phone calling and I'm back to regular library duties (though the libraries aren't open...), and as of the last revision on June 23 (which was still the version used on July 2, my last day) the questions (outside of basic contact info and questions about the illness symptoms):
What is your gender identity?
What sex were you born as?
What is your sexual orientation?
What race do you identify as?
Do you also work in transportation as a rideshare driver, bus driver or flight attendant? (including Lyft, Uber, taxi or shuttle companies). If they answer yes, then: What is the name of the company? This information will be used to help the company stop more people from getting sick.
Have you heard of 2 or more people being sick with covid in the last 2 weeks at places you work at, go to school or college or places you worship at (places of worship can include churches, temples, mosques, synagogues). If yes then, to help these places stop more people from getting sick, what are the names of the facilities and their addresses?
Have you traveled away from your home on an airline from the 2 days before and up to 10 days after your first started to feel sick? If yes then, to help the people on the flight, I will need to know some information about the flight. You can pull up your itinerary if it helps. I can wait.
In the 2 weeks before you first started to get sick, did you spend at least one hour in at any of these places:
parks, beaches, campgrounds, pools, trails or other outdoor spaces
indoor shopping malls
factories or manufacturing plants
fitness facilities or indoor recreational centers
retail (including grocery) stores
museums or aquariums
How often do you wear a mask?
Sorry for the length of this! Also, the wording is directly from the script, so any poorly written sentences (of which there are MANY), are from the paid government work force. Not that I'm judging. (JUDGES AWAY).
I will say that of all the people I managed to get on the phone, no one had been anywhere and they all wore their mask always. Because who in their right mind would be honest to an intrusive government agency on any of that???
If I find out new questions that have been added from others who are still doing this hellish task, I'll absolutely update you guys. From my understanding, LA County is being used as a model for the rest of the country on Contact Tracking. Er. Tracing.
Wow.....this is insane!!
